The Galleria Borghese host another wonderful exhibition; after Raffaello (2006), Canova (2007) and Correggio (2008) the roman gallery celebrates the great Caravaggio from October 1 2009 to January 24 2010. In occurency of IV centenary of his death, Caravaggio masterpieces will be put side by side with one of the most important figurative artists of the XX century: Francis Bacon. The two great artists are so close in their intense and tormented art but so historically distant, with 400 years of difference. The exhibition is different than the others, joining the different artworks by visual compatibility and do not suggest the classical historycal artworks tour. The result is an emotional trip trough the human existence by the traumatic then vivid life experiences of the authors.

The Galleria Borghese would show Caravaggio’s life trough their most renowed masterpices: Bacchino malato, il Fanciullo con canestro di frutta, Davide con la testa di Golia, Madonna dei Palafrenieri, San Gerolamo scrivente e San Giovanni Battista, and few more works granted by some of the most important galleries of the world, like New York’s Metropolitan.Like the baroque master, the precious works of Francis Bacon are exeptionally granted after the personal exhibition by Tate Modern, Prado and Metropolitan.

How to run a good soccer practice for kids

September 30, 2009 by Doctor Crime · Leave a Comment

The most important thing a soccer coach must do is come to practice with enthusiasm.  The energy the coach brings to practice will radiate throughout the team.  They must stay positive and always push their players in a positive manner.  When creating soccer drills for kids, the coach must keep in mind the skill level of their players.  If drills are not challenging enough they players will get bored and start to dis-engage.  Drills that are too difficult will result in a practice where you end up stopping and starting too much, disturbing the flow of a good practice.

Good soccer drills will involve game like situations where the kids learn to recognize certain situations.  Hopefully in the games they will recognize these situations and implement them when it counts.  Another quality of a good drill is that it conditions the players at the same time.  No one likes to line up and just do conditioning drills all the time.  They are mindless and most players hate them.  If you implement good youth soccer drills then the players will have plenty of conditioning and you won’t have to waste time running sprints at the end of practice.

Take command of the practice from the start.  Players will learn that once you step ont he field it is time to take care of business.  If you allow too much dilly daly and it takes a while to get into the practice it has an affect on the habits your team will create.

The drills, energy, and mindset the coach brings to practice are critical to your soccer team’s success.  Prepare well and push your players in a positive manner and you will have success!

Feline Questions and Responses on Training a Cat and More

September 29, 2009 by Doctor Crime · Leave a Comment

Q: Do cats respond to training?

A: Yes, training a cat is not as challenging as many cat people think it is. Kitties probably are not as responsive to training as Fido or FiFi are but they can be trained. Tasty treats offered as positive reinforcement is most likely the most certain method to train a cat.

Q: Why and how do pet cats make a purring sound?

A: Grown cats purr because they are happy and contented and to play on the emotions of humans — who can resist a purring cat? Kittens purr in answer to their mother cat’s purr to assist in bonding them. It is generally assumed that the purring is a vibration of the voice box as air is pushed though it. It is also believed that purring is a voluntary action.

Q: What makes quite a few individuals are allergic to cats?

A: Cat allergies are caused by the proteins in cat dander coming from the cat’s saliva. The dander dries and becomes airborne. People with cat allergies demonstrate a reaction because their immune system is trying to fight the alien protein and creates histamines.

Q: How do you curtail naughty cat behavior like scratching?

A: The best way to stop naughty cat behavior is the same way the mother cat controls an errant kitten. This is by scuffing the cat. You firmly but gently grasp the cat by the scruff of the neck and hold it down until it calms down. You need to do this at the time of the bad behavior.

Q: How do you litter train a cat?

A: You really shouldn’t need to do any training for a cat to make use of a litter pan, but if your adult cat has started to avoid the litter pan you need to determine the cause. The cat may have a urinary tract infection in which case you need to go to the veterinarian. If it is just too dirty you need to keep it cleaner. If you have started using litter you may have to change back or sprinkle a little catnip in the litter to attract the cat to the new litter.

Q: How do you keep cats off counter tops?

A: This is the most asked about cat behavior issues and can be a challenging one. Cats like elevated platforms and they can find food or food smells on tables and counters. It is best to keep the surfaces clean and to use something like foil or double sided tape to keep cats off the counters.

Top 3 Reasons to Be Careful With Modern Diets

September 29, 2009 by Doctor Crime · Leave a Comment

Many modern diets promise great results, and some of them deliver quite well on those promises. However, there are three important things you need to be aware of before beginning any diet program in order to ensure healthy weight loss. They are:

1. If the diet omits certain foods, you may fall short of your nutritional requirements. An example of this is the Atkins diet, which is big on protein and veggies but low on carbs and fruit. If you’re active on a diet such as this, you need to be sure to take a good multivitamin to help make up where the diet is falling short. The best multivitamins are whole food vitamins, which can be found at your local health store.

2. Be careful not to cut back your calorie intake too fast. Cutting the amount of food you’re used to eating each day too quickly can leave you tired and lightheaded. It’s much better to scale back slowly. Besides, you won’t feel as hungry if you take it a little bit at a time.

3. Always consult your doctor before starting a diet plan. It may sound contradictory, but you need to be relatively healthy before starting a major weight loss program. Be sure to get a checkup from your physician first, and get his or her opinion on the diet program you’re planning on following.

Dieting doesn’t have to be difficult, but you want to make sure that you lose weight in a natural, healthy way. With many of today’s modern weight loss programs, the emphasis is on speed rather than health. Be careful and plan ahead if you want to lose weight the right way.

Vancouver Island is a large island in British Columbia, just off Canada’s Pacific coast, separated from the mainland by the Strait of Georgia. It is 460 km (286 mi) long and up to 80 km (50 mi) wide, a magnificent landscape of emerald forests, snow-capped mountains, flower-filled meadows, crystal-clear ice-cold lakes and rivers, and pristine coastline pounded by the Pacific Ocean. The island is paradise for outdoor pursuits enthusiasts, and it is one of the few places in the world where you can play golf and go skiing on the same day.

There are mountains down the centre of the island, the Vancouver Island Ranges, dividing it into the rugged and wet west coast and the drier east coast with a more rolling landscape. The highest point on the island is the Golden Hinde at 2,195 m (7,200 ft), lying within the Strathcona Provincial Park, and there are a few glaciers here, the largest of which is the Comox Glacier,

The west coast is rocky and mountainous, characterized by fjords, bays and inlets, while the. interior has many rivers and lakes, of which Kennedy Lake, northeast of Ucluelet, is the largest.

At the southern tip of the island is the elegant capital, Victoria, with its historic parliament, narrow streets dotted with cafes, pubs and colourful gardens, and boats floating lazily in the sparkling harbour. There is an abundance of sights to experience here, including the world-famous Butchart Botanical Gardens, with over a million plants. The gardens are divided into themed areas, such as Japanese or Italian, and each is a beautiful garden in its own right.

Activities available in this big outdoors include skiing, white-water rafting, caving, mountain biking, surfing, sailing, diving and snorkelling, bungy jumping and many other exciting pursuits. There are deep-sea fishing trips for halibut, salmon and chinook, whale-watching excursions or kayaking in the inlets of the Pacific Rim National Park.

Trekking and hiking through the wilderness is also popular here, and can be done on horse or on foot along the trails in the woods.

Wildlife viewing is becoming more and more popular, with black bears high on the wish-list, and ecotours by boat can
